Painter is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program. Trades person in this trade needs to know the techniques for handling their specialized products, and they must practice safety procedures in applying these products. People practicing this trade should be aware of improvements in product quality, equipment upgrades, and trends in color and wall coverings. Painter apply paint, wallpaper, fabric and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings and other structures. They also repair cracks and holes in walls and prepare work surfaces by scraping, sanding, sand-blasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning. Painters work on everything from home interiors, residential painting and wall covering work; to industrial tanks and conveyors, corrosion control, wood staining, and surface preparation. They may work as part of a team or be independent contractors. Painter must be able to determine the quantities and cost of materials needed.
Painter Apprenticeship Level 1-4 Challenge Exam Refresher Course
The term of apprenticeship for a painter is spread over 3 levels that includes on-the-job training and technical training. Out of these 3 levels , some levels of apprenticeship may or may not be challenge-able, depending on the province. We offer 4o hour refresher courses to challenge level exams. For qualified candidates (approved by apprenticeship board), we offer a 40-hour refresher course that will prepare them to challenge the Inter-Provincial Red Seal examination.
Painter (Inter-Provincial) Red Seal Challenge Exam Refresher Course
Once painters have worked in their field for a requisite number of hours (requirements must be verified through the provincial apprenticeship board) then painters may wish to write the provincially administered exam for painter IP Red Seal , which will qualify him/her to work anywhere in Canada. For qualified candidates (approved by apprenticeship board), we offer a 40-hour refresher course that will prepare them to challenge the Inter-Provincial Red Seal examination.
