Description

The HVAC Level 1 Challenge Course is designed for individuals with experience in the HVAC industry looking to validate their skills and knowledge to obtain Level 1 certification. This course provides a comprehensive review of HVAC fundamentals, focusing on core competencies required in the trade. It is ideal for those who want to prepare for certification assessments or need formal recognition of their skills.

Program Structure

  • Program Schedule:
    • Start Date: November 02- December 11, 2024
    • Class Hours: 9:00AM – 4:30PM ( Saturdays)
    • Modality: In-person / Live with Instructor
  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Venue: Ace Trades and Technical Institute, 9486 120 street, Surrey, BC, V3V 4B9


Requirements for Enrollment

To enroll in any of the Level 1 Challenge Courses, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Experience: Must have some experience in the HVAC trade.
  • Work-Based Training Hours: Completion of 1,800 work-based training hours (1+ year) in the trade they wish to challenge.

Learning Objectives

    • Explain the principles and components of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
    • Describe the operation of various HVAC systems, including split systems and heat pumps.
    • Identify and apply safety protocols relevant to HVAC installations and maintenance.
    • Demonstrate proper techniques for installing HVAC equipment and necessary tools.
    • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and servicing HVAC equipment.
    • Apply troubleshooting methods to identify and resolve common HVAC issues.
    • Understand relevant local and national HVAC codes and regulations for compliance.
    • Review key topics and skills necessary for successfully passing the Level 1 HVAC certification exam.
